Members of the Springfield and Branson chapters of the Missouri Trout Fishermen’s Association are again hosting the annual Fly Fishing Expo at the Branson-Hollister Lions Club Community Center, located on Mt. Branson.

The Springfield and Branson chapters of the Missouri Trout Fishermen’s Association are set to host their third annual Fly Fishing Expo Friday and Saturday at the Branson-Hollister Lions Club Community Center at 1015 E. State Highway 76.

“This will be a celebration of everything fly fishing and it will be held in one of the premier trout fishing areas of the Ozarks, Branson, Missouri,” said Expo Director Ron Leggins. “And, we have a fine venue approximately one mile east after you cross the bridge over Lake Taneycomo from the Landing Boulevard.

“Our event is free to the public.”

According to Leggins, the Missouri Trout Fishing Association is expecting “approximately 75 fly tyers demonstrating their skills, talking about flies, and sharing tying tips.”

“Nearly 25 vendors and factory reps will be on hand to show you their products and make you a deal,” Leggins said. “During the Expo, we will raffle and auction off some fine tackle, a fishing kayak, fishing trips, fly rods, Branson show tickets, fly tying stations, artwork, signature flies, and more.”

A few award-winning fly tyers set to visit include Danny Ward, Terry Tanner, Patricia Pezza, Patty Lueken, Clarence Winans, Wayne Simpson, Carolyn Hellmuth, Jay Dzik, Marc Pinsel, Terry Beeson, Dave Tucker, Ryan Walker, Larry Wegmann, and Larry Olson.

Also, world famous fly tiers, who specializes in “sculpting” deer hair, Mike George and Joe Jackson, will be there to demonstrate amazing deer hair flies.

Adults can learn from fly casting experts demonstrating their skills on the casting pool.

The schedule of events will unfold Friday at 9 a.m. when doors open, followed by casting demonstrations, then the end of the “Morning Bucket Raffle,” followed by more casting demonstrations at 11 a.m.

The morning silent auction ends at 11:30 a.m., followed by a morning silent auction and afternoon raffle buckets and another silent auction.

The live auction begins at 4 p.m., and day one closes at 6 p.m.

Doors again open at 9 a.m. Saturday with more raffles and auctions, as well as a free Kid’s Fly-Tying Event, and a special appearance from Terry Sanders, Branson’s award-winning comedian, from 9-11 a.m.

Kids 15 and under will have materials provided, and they’ll have a chance to win one of two fly rods organizers are giving away. The live auction kicks off at 1 p.m., and doors close at 4 p.m.
