Within hours of most Americans learning of the madman who gunned down country music concertgoers in Las Vegas late Sunday night, there was a clarion cry from the anti-gun crowd renewing their demand for gun control. Nothing is ever mentioned about dealing with the mental health issues these madmen exhibit.

Why? Well, mental health is a taboo issue and won’t remove guns from the hands of American citizens. No one wants to address an issue that may be too pervasive to address as a nation.

Who was this madman? The father of the gunman behind the deadliest shooting in modern U.S. history robbed a string of banks in Arizona, escaped prison in Texas and tried to start a new life as the manager of a bingo parlor in Oregon, according to historical newspaper articles. Not exactly a normal childhood.

Guns, those evil mechanical devices that kill people, are to blame the anti-gun folks say.

Well, until this nation determines that dealing with mentally ill people is a number one priority there will be more mass killings.

The 2016 Democratic Party’s presidential nominee Hillary Clinton was on her stump bashing the National Rifle Association (NRA) first thing Monday morning as officials in Las Vegas were still dealing with the body count of the deceased and the hundreds of wounded.

“The crowd fled at the sound of gunshots. Imagine the deaths if the shooter had a silencer, which the NRA wants to make easier to get,” she tweeted, adding: “Our grief isn’t enough. We can and must put politics aside, stand up to the NRA, and work together to try to stop this from happening again.”

Never one to let a crisis go to waste, the Democrat was tweeting her thoughts to her audience of staunch left-wing, anti-gun followers.

Backlash to Clinton’s comments was immediate from the likes of Central Intelligence veteran Buck Sexton: “Appallingly stupid (Hillary’s comments), and entirely irrelevant, Mrs. Clinton knows nothing about firearms and even worse, she doesn’t care.”

Why is it that these political cronies can’t shut up and let the families of those injured or killed mourn?

Not to be left out of the political blather, other liberals chimed in: “‘Nowhere but America do horrific large-scale mass shootings happen with this degree of regularity,’” Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., said in a statement. “‘This must stop. It is positively infuriating that my colleagues in Congress are so afraid of the gun industry that they pretend there aren’t public policy responses to this epidemic. There are, and the thoughts and prayers of politicians are cruelly hollow if they are paired with continued legislative indifference. It’s time for Congress to get off its ass and do something,’” Fox News reported. (Apparently, Murphy hasn’t been paying attention to what ISIS is doing in the Middle East and Europe.)

Deal with reality. Deal with the soul of this problem. Guns are not capable of firing without a deranged individual wanting to harm those who are merely bystanders in life.

The way it is now, the asylums can hold the sane people, but if we tried to shut up the insane we should run out of building materials. Mark Twain
