Memorial service for Janice “Jan” Elaine McCabe, 75, of Rockaway Beach, Mo., will be held June 15, 2019, 1 p.m., in the Forsyth United Methodist Church. 

Arrangements were under the direction of the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home, Forsyth, Mo.

She died June 5, 2019. 

Jan was born April 23, 1944, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, daughter of Richard Allison and Joyce Elizabeth Avery Rail. 

After graduating from high school, she became a licensed beautician and practiced in a beauty shop in Kansas City, Mo. Eventually, she bought the beauty shop and ran it for over 10 years. 

She volunteered in a food pantry in Kansas City and moved to Houston, Texas where she started a pantry. She, also, spearheaded literacy training in the area. She then moved to Tenn. where she again started a food pantry. 

Later, she and her husband moved to Rockaway Beach where she organized a food pantry in Rockaway Beach that later was moved to Forsyth. 

She was a member of the Sweet Adeline’s that performed in Branson and the Invitational League of Women Bowlers. In her free time, she enjoyed wood carving and photography. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Later Day Saints.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Ernest McCabe, of Rockaway Beach; brothers, Richard Rail and wife, Lahea, of Phoenix, Ariz. and Craig M. Rail, of Colo.; sisters, Roberta Lawrence, of Kansas City, Mo. and Toni Rail, of Forsyth, Mo.
