Celebration of Life for Sammie Lester Parnell, Sr., 76, of Galena, Mo., will be planned for a later time. Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.

He died May 28, 2019. 

Sammie was born Jan. 17, 1943, in Vinita, Okla., son of Jessie and Clara Parnell. He was joined in marriage March 17, 1980, to Brenda Kay Parnell. He was a musician by trade and thrived at doing his music. His favorite pastime was fishing, and he enjoyed riding motorcycles, going to swap meets and traveling. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, of 21 years; sister, Georgie Parnell; brothers, Bobby Parnell and Jessie Parnell. 

Survivors include his children, Sammie, Jr. (Nicole) Parnell, of Galena, Mo.; Bill (Monique) Lloyd, of Forsyth, Mo.; Shane (Joanne) Lloyd, of Spokane, Mo.; Lynda (Rodney) Young, of Forsyth, Mo.; Veronica (Billy) Young, of Reeds Spring, Mo.; sister, Jeannie Parnell, of Claremore, Okla.; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. 

Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to St. Jude at stjude.org.
