A 172 Cessna airplane ran off the end Taney County Airport’s runway Saturday morning and crashed into trees just off U.S. 65 south of Branson.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol Cpl. Todd Hadlock, an instructor and student had been flying and were attempting to land.

“They attempted to stop and ran off the runway,” Hadlock said.

Flight student Laura Berry said both she and her flight instructor were able to walk away from the crash.

“We are fine,” she said standing inside Taney County Airport.

    “The plane is not.”

Hadlock said he would describe the incident as minor.

“We are grateful,” Berry said. “It could have been much worse.”
