Charges have been filed in the Tuesday morning shooting at Fall Creek Condominiums in Branson.
Jerry Lyn Weatherly, 57, of Salem, is charged with first degree assault and armed criminal action, according to court records.
According to a probable cause statement, Weatherly was the primary aggressor in a physical altercation with another man, reportedly over an employment dispute.
During the altercation, Weatherly removed a firearm from his truck and while till partially in his truck, fired a shot at the alleged victim, striking him in the right knee, according to the statement.
The alleged victim then retreated toward his vehicle in an attempt to find safety, while Weatherly fired one more shot that missed. Weatherly then returned to his office up the street, according to the statement.
First degree assault is a class A felony when the accused inflicts serious physical injury. Class A felonies carry a maximum sentence of life in prison.
Armed criminal action is an unclassified felony, and as a first offense, carries a minimum penalty of three years in prison without parole eligibility for three years.
He is currently being held in the Taney County Jail, with a bond set at $100,000 cash or surety. He is scheduled to return to court Dec. 4.
