A body which was discovered near Table Rock Dam has been identified as a Taney County man reported missing.

According to Lt. Sean Barnwell with the Branson Police Department, the Taney County coroner has confirmed the identity of the deceased as 42-year old Craig Wayne Willhite of Taney County.

“Mr. Willhite was also reported missing on the 29th of May to the Taney County Sheriff,” Barnwell said.

Barnwell said the department received a phone call from an individual who spotted the body around 8 a.m. Monday.

“His injuries were consistent with a fall down the hill,” Barnwell said. “They found his belongings, some of them at the top and some halfway down the hill.”

While the incident is under investigation, Barnwell said, Branson police currently do not suspect foul play.

“It’s not being suspected as a suspicious death,” he said. “But we’re awaiting the results of the autopsy before we close this case out.”
