A Hollister woman, who was hiding in a field from authorities, suffered serious injuries after being run over by a Kimberling City Police sergeant on June 4 in Stone County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported two suspects, involved in a motor vehicle pursuit, were hiding in a field with extremely high vegetation on private property, 1,000 feet north of Kimberling City at the end of Jim Linegar Lane. Sgt. Aaron Hoeft was driving his vehicle through the field in search of the suspects when he drove over Sarah Sanders, 29, who was lying down in the field.  Sanders was transported by Mercy Helicopter to CoxSouth Hospital in Springfield to be treated for her injuries. The second suspect was not named in the patrol’s online crash report.

Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Sgt. John Lueckenhoff confirmed the motor vehicle pursuit and the driver of the vehicle who drove over the suspect was with the Kimberling City Police Department. The Kimberling City Police Department website ckcmo.com states Hoeft is a sergeant with the department.

Kimberling City Police Chief Craig Alexander had not responded to a request for additional information on the incident as of press time.
