Boat Fire

Fires responders from the Southern Stone County Fire Protection District look over the aftermath of a boat fire Monday afternoon.

A boat fire Monday afternoon resulted in zero injuries.

Emergency personnel with the Southern Stone County Fire Protection District responded to the report of a boat fire around 4:30 p.m.  at Rock Lane Resort at Indian Point. 

According to a press release from the Southern Stone County Fire Protection District, when emergency personnel arrived, they found a pontoon boat with a fire in the engine compartment. All occupants of the boat were safe. 

Indian Point Police used an extinguisher to knock the fire down, according to the release. A fire engine and fire boat from the fire district were able to get the blaze under control.

According to the press release, the owners of the vehicle reported engine problems upon launching the boat. Within a few minutes of launching the engine area caught on fire. 

They returned to the courtesy dock at Rock Lane Resort located on Indian Point. There were no injuries according to the release.  

The owner of the boat stated they were here visiting from the Saint Louis area and were planning on having a nice time on Table Rock Lake. The dock sustained minor damage, according to the press release.
