Rockaway Beach Ward I Alderman Robert “Uncle Buck” Brown

Rockaway Beach Ward I Alderman Robert “Uncle Buck” Brown died on June 1 at the age of 62.

In a statement, Rockaway Beach Mayor Rex Wood said Brown was a native to the Cherokee Nation where he grew up on a cattle ranch along the Arkansas River with his three brothers and sister.

Brown attended the Law Enforcement Training Institute at University of Missouri Columbia, which was followed by In-Service Training with the Missouri Highway Patrol. Starting in 1986, he served as a police officer and deputy in Pulaski County, according to the mayors statement.

Brown was appointed to the Rockaway Beach Board of Alderman in Oct. 2015, by former Rockaway Beach Mayor Don Smith. Brown continued his time as alderman after being elected in April 2016 and again in April 2018, according to Branson Tri-Lakes News archives.

“He has left his mark on Rockaway Beach with love and dedication to those he served,” said Wood.

Brown was also appointed and served as the Rockaway Beach Police Commissioner in 2015, according to the mayors statement.
